Our Mission
Often animals are put down or suffer needlessly because their owners cannot afford expensive surgery or needed medical treatment. Companion animal owners must often make the difficult decision to put an animal down or surrender them to a local shelter because of the costs involved.
Thousands of animals are sent to shelters each year, many because of treatable medical conditions their owners cannot afford to fund. As the cost of veterinary care continues to rise, these numbers increase dramatically. Sadly, most of these animals are euthanized, since shelters cannot afford to house and treat them all and most are not adopted in time to save them.
Adopting a companion animal always involves both expense and commitment, and if owners have a resource to help with medical services, their animals can receive necessary care despite the financial burdens involved.
Here at Southeast Shih-Tzu Rescue we are committed to helping seniors and those that have fallen on hard times from having to choose between surrendering their beloved pet to a shelter or having them euthanized due to lack of funds for their care.
Additionally we are committed to saving senior dogs and dogs with medical conditions that would otherwise be euthanized at shelters. We also provide a hospice program so these precious lives can be afforded all the love and care they deserve for the remainder of their lives.
